I THANK GOD

I thank God each and every day for his mercy and saving my soul
I was traveling down the wrong road, not knowing where to go
I was lost and miserable as a man could possibly be
But I will never forget the night when the Lord came looking for me
I always knew there was a God and in my heart I would never doubt
But you couldn't tell by the way I was living before God sought me out
I know I am no where near worthy of what the Lord has done for me
He gave His only begotten Son to save a miserable wretch like me
Jesus Christ was perfect in every way as any normal person can see
But the sinned debt was pinned on his shoulders on the Cross of Calvary
God has never accepted anything but perfect when it came to sacrifice
That's why the Darling Lamb, Jesus Christ had to die to pay the price
If we could get a good mental picture of what Jesus went through for us
I believe there would be more people saved and in His name they would trust
He could have called on leagues of angels from the heavens up above
But instead he was spit on, mocked and beaten to prove his love for us
I know the devil had thought he won while my Master hung on a tree
I would have loved to see the look on his face, when he rose on day three
The devil hates me, he hates you and he hates the church that you attend
But I have read the beginning of God's word and I have also read the end
Sin was brought into this world with the acts of one woman and one man
But the sin debt was paid in full thanks to the Lord's nail scarred hands
As a young baby I had no choice but to be born into a world of sin
But I thanks God that he gave me the choice as a man to be born again
